The new GTX 260 GPUs are made to be loved. Maybe the 24 extra cores don't show their full potential, but after overclocking they sure do come in handy. That's why we are happy to see an overclocked product from EVGA. These overclocked models are a bit more expensive than stock ones, about 300USD, but they certainly can match the performance of Radeon 4870. Also the performance is pretty close to the GTX 280, and that means saving almost 100 USD.
Under the hood the GTX 260 is actually a GTX 280 without a small amount of memory and one 24 shader cores shader cluster disabled. That is the only difference. So all in all, the Core 216 stock cards deliver small upgrade in performance, but the overclocked editions certainly do punch in.
It's the amount of shaders and frame buffer that really matters, so you shouldn't have any trouble running any latest hardware-hog games in their directX 10 highest settings.
Another bonus from EVGA is their famous step-up program and very extensive warranty policy. That places this card on top of the best-buy single-GPU products.
