Gainward Geforce GTX280 1024MB is visually almost the same as all the other GTX models which can be found today. There is no manufacturer who presented its own version of this card, including the Gainward, so that means that everyone uses standard PCB, components and cooling system. GT200 is the heart of the system, in all its size and possibilities. All 240 stream processors are operable and their working clock is at 1296MHz, while the rest of GPU ''ticks'' at 602 MHz. At the end of 512-bit memory bandwidth is 1 GB of GDDR3 memory adjusted on 1107 MHz, although, 0,83 ns chips can achieve 1200 MHz. Power supply is digital, which is used by all modern graphic cards with large power consumption, where GeForce GTX 280 with its 236 W TDP certainly belongs. The card has one 6-pin and one 8-pin connector for energy supply, and minimum energy requirement for power supply unit is 550 W.
All of this is placed below a metal shielding which completely covers both PCB and components. Beneath is a dual slot cooler in remarkable size, with a fan as additional help. Thanks to excellent thermal management (GT uses only 25W in 2D regime), the cooler is extremely quiet when the card isn't overloaded. PCB and memory chips are covered with a metal plate from the behind, and that plate works as a heat spreader for components on this side of PCB.
On the upper edge of the card, there are two SLI connectors placed on one side, and on the other side are the previously mentioned supply connectors, optical S/PDIF input which must be used if you want to switch sound to external devices using HDMI port. HDMI is used via adapter because the card has two DVI and one TV-out ports.
Within this card package Gainward supplies one DVI to HDMI adapter, on DVI to VGA adapter and video cable which helps transform TV-out into RCA or composite progressive. Also there is an instruction manual, driver disc with different Gainward tools for display enhacement and easy overclocking.
